This project originated from an interest in sustainable communities and urban resilience in reference to extreme weather conditions. Katrina and Sandy has pushed me to figure out a solution to the power loss we faced during those times and a solution to all future times of power loss. As an undergraduate majoring in Sustainable Urban Environments at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, I wanted to create a sustainable city that could resist extreme weather conditions while also conserving as much energy as possible. |

Current Senior at NYU Poly studying Sustainable Urban Environments as well as Business. Born and raised in Brooklyn New York, I have witnessed many severe weather conditions. I have first hand experience with flooding and power outages from natural disasters. I believe with enough research and promoting alternate sources of energy and utilities, people can have a more reliable and sustainable living environment and adapt to weather conditions. |

Hi, I'm Nabil and I am currently a Masters student at New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering studying Digital Media. As a resident of Long Island who has also gone through both hurricane Irene and Sandy, I think it's high time for people who live at sea level near vulnerable hurricane areas to improve their resilience against natural disasters. Conserving energy and reducing the amount of energy needed would keep denizens' pockets green while putting less load on the overall electric grid. |
